Description
Bascula is a pendant lamp designed by Shigeaki Asahara and made by Stilnovo Studio.
Loosely inspired by the starship Enterprise from the TV series Star Trek, the Bascula lamp was designed in 1985 and is one of the first examples of a thin-disc pendant balanced on a single support cable. The conical counterweight balances the disc, holding the pendant lamp horizontal or tilted, and also directing the light output.
Bascula is a design by Shigeaki Asahara for Stilnovo which, since its origins, has featured a dual emission of light. Bascula Pendant in fact has two diffusers pointing downwards and upwards relative to the body of the chandelier. It is made with a glass diffuser, an aluminium heat sink and a metal counterweight, materials that ensure durability and optimal performance.
The combination of elements in this pendant lamp creates a modern, minimalist look, evoking the futuristic aesthetic of the starship Enterprise from Star Trek. Bascula is rated IP20 and is also available in two versions, 2700°K or 3000°K.
